Why Do Men Pee Standing up? :)

Why Men Pee Standing Up:
(A Humorous, yet seldom published story of the difference between Man and Woman)
When God was creating all that is good and wonderful, He took a day of rest. Adam and Eve were getting comfortable, and learning all about The Garden of Eden. After a few days, he gathered them for a meeting to discuss what they were learning, and to see if they had any complaints. Among other complaints, Adam complained that it was a bother to have to squat to go pee. God told them he had a solution. He had two more items to be utilized, but had not given them out yet. He explained that one would be for the woman, and one would be for the man. He would present, and explain the purposes for each, and let Adam and Eve discuss it between themselves to determine which would be for man, and which would be for woman. God wanted them to really discuss all the possibilities, and come to a mutual agreement as to why each should have the one they would get. This decision would be final, and could never be changed.

Both Adam and Eve were excited about this, and wanted to know what the two individual items were. God started to explain about the two items, and again to stress how important it would be to discuss the items, and all that came with them, before making a decision. Adam was really excited, and impatient, and kept urging God to hurry up and tell them what these items were. As God started to explain the two items, he began with an item that would be called a ‘Penis’. He began to list what this would be for, and the purposes of it. Adam, in all his eagerness was not paying much attention, and as soon as God mentioned that it “would allow whoever had it to pee standing-up”, Adam did not hear another word. Adam immediately started jumping up and down, and insisting he wanted that one. He was really excited! God, and Eve both tried to calm him down, so God could tell what the second item was, and they could learn, discuss, and make an informed decision. Adam would not listen to anything else. He Wanted the thing that would allow him to pee standing-up, and would not settle-down, until he got that. After trying unsuccessfully, Eve Finally turned to God, and said “Go ahead and give that to him. We will not know peace until he gets that.” So God Gave the penis to Man.

Adam was so excited to be able to pee standing-up! He pee’d on everything he possibly could, all over the entire garden. He danced, he pee’d, he sang about being able to do this while standing up. He ran all over the place, so excited about this new-found joy! He was the happiest, and could not imagine a better thing to have. This went on for many days. He could not pee constantly, so he used it as a play-thing. Adam was totally excited, and nothing else mattered. It was all he talked about. He found that this new found thing could entertain him endlessly, and he could do so much with it. All the animals, and even Eve were getting tired of his excitement, and learning how he could use this thing. They tried to stay away from him, but There was no place in The entire Garden where he did not use his new-found toy. He did not care what anybody or anything else thought. He had a penis! Life could not get any better.

After many weeks of this, with a sigh, Eve finally asked God, “By the way… what was the other thing we were supposed to discuss?” God Smiled, and said “The other item is called ‘A Brain’, and it seems Adam will not part with the Penis, so Woman shall have The Brain.

Now you know why man can pee standing up.

Urinal Humor (not to be confused with Toilet Humor)

Urinals: Functional, Often Funny!
Not often do I take pics of urinals... by JOn's ~=:-) viewOn my Flickr Photo page, I look up the stats to see what links, and searches bring my photos up. Often the search words are quite funny. When I open up the search, not only do my own photos appear, it shows me all the other people's photos that come up with the same search. For some odd reason, "Urinals" has been a hot topic. This photo to the right is one of mine that always comes up. It is one of my favorite bathrooms in Downtown Portland. What makes it so special? The incredible tile work! having done many tile-installs myself, I appreciate good craftsmanship, and creativity. The urinals, themselves are not attractive, or even anything of interest. The bathroom is a stand-alone building in a park, and it's quality, and design always make me happy. It is a public restroom, and is almost always surprisingly clean, too!
Some of the funny pictures that have come up along with my own in the searches, have got me laughing, and for some reason some of the photos stick in my mind, making me chuckle long after I leave the page. I decided to gather some of the funny ones here. The rest of these photos in this blog ARE NOT MINE. All of the photos below are from other Flickr Members, and if you click on the photo, you will be taken to their page. (Enter those pages at your own risk, for I have no control over their content, or what you will see.) I have pre-screened every profile to be sure I am not linking you to anything I would not support, but Their pages could change. The photos are funny, and you can see more details of where they were taken by clicking on the photos.

 Interesting Urinal

I have a love-hate relationship with urinals.
I love the way they make life easy. I hate the way they are often disgusting.
To me, the best urinal would be a tree, or any other place in nature.
I absolutely hate when there are many guys at the same time using them. Most guys just do not know boundaries, or even practice good hygiene.
Something that is so necessary for humans is often the most awkward, disgusting, or even humiliating. The Absolute worst design I ever saw of a Urinal, was in Auburn, Washington. A Large church there had an outdoor ampitheater, and the bathrooms were designed to accomodate large crowds all at the same time. The Urinals were large stainless steel troughs lined-up down the middle of the bathroom. Guys lined-up all around the perimeter, shoulder to shoulder, and facing into the center to pee. Yup... You faced, and peed toward other guys. There were pipes hanging down in the middle constantly spraying water. So ya have guys who can't aim, and do not know how to behave, all peeing toward one another, and the water is also spraying on you. You would not think going to a church event would be so disgusting! I Only used the bathroom once. I waited until we left, and found a gas station later.
I have traveled all over The United States, and often am quite delighted when I find a  clean, well-lit, and even welcoming bathroom. Occasionally I find one I want to take a picture of, but not often.

This one below is another of Mine. It is at The Vista House on Crown Point, Oregon. It is well-lit, always clean, and has sparkling marble, polished wood, and plenty of windows. It is one of those places people always take a picture of, and it is not unusual to have women come in to take pictures, too

I Hope you find Humor in what would often only be a basic necessity of life.

Have a Wonderful Day, and Find a Fun Place to Go, when Ya gotta go!

A BEAR (or is it BARE) In The Desert!

A BEAR (or is it BARE?) InThe Desert!
Happy Bare with Bear! by JOn's ~=:-) view

How would You React to Seeing a Bear, or BARE in The Desert?

“At Least I Know I Will Not Run Into Any Bears while hiking in The Desert.”
That is what I told a friend the day before I went hiking in The Desert…AND ACTUALLY RAN INTO A BEAR!

While at work, a friend and I were discussing the differences between hiking in the mountains, and hiking in the desert. We were discussing the different things you might encounter in the different regions of The U.S. The topic of snakes, critters, and other dangers came up. The possibilities of what one may encounter while in remote regions, and the dangers that could harm someone while hiking are as varied as the different types of regions. I am an avid hiker/ trekker/ explorer. I have been all my life. I am always curious, and want to learn what lives in any region, and the dangers those critters (big or small) may present to a Human. I do not have fear (usually) of these critters, but I DO Have Respect for them! If one goes through life in fear, they will likely forget to enjoy what nature has to offer, and often make tragic mistakes. Fear blocks the mind, and does not allow one to make logical, sensible decisions when faced with the danger. Understanding, and knowing what to do is a key to surviving what nature holds.

While discussing this subject, we were also discussing all the new things there were to learn, and understand. I had just recently moved from Oregon to Las Vegas. I have previously been in many different regions of The U.S., but The Mojave Desert is new territory for me. We were discussing how different snakes behave, how different spiders, and other crawling critters behave. I am quite familiar with snakes, and spiders. Scorpions are another story. I expressed that I was actually looking forward to finding Tarantulas, Scorpions, and some of the snakes I had not previously encountered. My friend mentioned that those are scary, and a good reason to NOT Go out in The Desert. I find those to only be a threat if you are not aware they are there. Awareness is a huge key to not getting hurt. I would rather hike with those than where the bears are. Bears are beautiful, and I have hiked around them most of my life. Bears are also THE ONE THING that Scares me! I have had bear-surprises more times than was comfortable. I have always done what one is supposed to do, when a bear is suddenly face-to-face with you, and never had a bad thing happen from a bear. Even camping, or backpacking, I have woken to bears in my camp, and even looking right at me through the tent-door. But I ALWAYS took the needed precautions, keeping food away from the tent, hung from a tree, and made sure to never wear food-smelling clothes into the tent. I Have had some scares, but never more from a bear.

When I was leaving work that day, and knowing I was going hiking the next day, My friend told me to “Be safe, and watch for the deadly critters while naked out there!” I laughed, and replied, “At least I know I will not run into any bears in The Desert.” Ha! Famous last words!

Well, I DID See a BEAR While Hiking in the Desert!
The funny thing is, There was BARE, and BEAR! Yup! While Hiking naked, I also found a BEAR!

Oops... Thought You said Ya gotta love the humor of some people! I was at least five miles from the nearest anything, and suddenly, here is a recliner-chair, and a Giant Stuffed Bear! I am sure many would find it odd to see someone hiking totally naked in the 120-degree heat in the middle of a Desert. What I found unusual was that someone would go to the effort to haul a chair, and a stuffed animal out here. They set the bear up in the chair, on a small hill, overlooking the valley, and facing Sunrise Mountain. It would seem the bear has been out there for many years, and is quite content to sit and bake all day in the sun. He has a great view, and watches the sunrise every morning. He gets to see all the critters come and go. I am sure he sees his share of intrepid hikers go by, and probably has seen more than one could possibly imagine.

Ducky Finds out The Bear is Tame

This bear is crusty with what nature has dealt him in this harsh environment. He has been through blazing heat in the summer, and below-freezing temperatures in the winter. I guess that would answer the life-long question about whether or not bear meat can in fact be frozen, then thawed, and still remain good! This bear seems to have been frozen, thawed, and baked to a golden-brown hundreds of times. And while He seems to be a little on the weathered side, He still seems quite content to sit here, and watch the sunrise every day. He has seen His share of flash-floods as they wash below his perch. He has withstood many freak- storms, as The Desert is known for sudden, and even violent Thunderstorms. He has seen rain, and likely is still wet inside from the soakings, and probably has dents in his head from the hail that has come. I am sure He has made friends with many scorpions, ants, snakes, and other assorted Desert Critters.
The bear has A Wonderful View of Sunrise Mountain
It makes me laugh to ponder all the possible reasons this bear was placed here, and the circumstances, and events that happened in the process of him being placed here. I can imagine the hilarity that followed, and even the many visits those people have made back out to visit this bear. I can imagine all the photos of this bear, and all the varied people that have posed with him. I can imagine the surprise, wonder, and humor that every single person who has stumbled upon him has enjoyed. I can imagine the caution, yet curiosity of the wild animals that live out here. Imagine the Coyote that comes out for his evening hunt, and suddenly finds this bear in a chair. Imagine the process that coyote goes through for endless hours trying to figure out this new thing. Is it safe? Why does it smell like Humans? Why does it not move? Why is it here? Is it edible? And, imagine as this timid Coyote is edging closer to this new thing, the breeze suddenly makes a bit of it wiggle, and the coyote jumps a foot high!
I laugh at the possibility that this may have actually been placed with a hidden camera, and they are filming everyone and everything that comes near. (Picture me discreetly scanning my surroundings for a hidden camera.) Often we go places, and do things which we likely would be less eager to do, if We KNEW there was a camera. It gives me a laugh, though, and then rather than worrying about IF There was a camera, my mind turns to: “I wonder where I can see the footage they capture?” While most of what I do anymore in life would not change one bit, camera, or not, I still think occasionally like I did when I lived a Secret naked life. I am not secretive about much anymore. I have learned to embrace who I am, and What I do. While many think naked is somehow illegal, it is absolutely not. I do not do anything that could get me arrested, nor will I do anything that could land me in jail. (Simply naked is not illegal. For it to be illegal, it must be either Lewd, or Obscene… or both. The trouble comes when Most Do NOT understand the laws, and automatically think naked by itself is illegal, and even harmful. I simply enjoy as much of life as is practical without clothes. I seldom am where groups of people will see me, and the few that do are quite welcoming, because of how I go about it.)

(Not Sure You Are Comfortable Seeing Photos of Me Enjoying Life Nekkid?)
Look at your own level of comfort:
Just Good Bare Fun :) Here, you see many photos of me Bare with The Bear. I did not include anything too revealing. I was having a ball, and had not a care in the world while out there. I do not hide the fact that I love life naked.

My slogan in life (and the name of my blog) is: “Enter With An Open Mind, Or Closed Eyes”. I have found that when given a choice as to how much you view, or not, most find it quite welcoming, comfortable, and even funny. Many in my life who had previously thought naked was bad have been happy, and even comfortable around me while I am enjoying life in this way. For those of you who have seen me struggle and accept who I am in the past, can appreciate how much growth I have discovered along the way. I have written many blogs about the troubles, and torment I have been through. Rather than list a dozen links, You can just look to the list of labels to the right;
-------------------->>>
Pick any label you want to see more of my thoughts on, and it will take you to the blogs. So far None of my blogs show any nudity. This is the first which shows any at all. The blog may discuss naked, and tell about it, but it is not to force anything on anybody. I like to let people discover for themselves what level of comfort is good for them. I have started the blog exploring what makes me who I am, and the struggles of what has brought me to where I currently am. Naked is a huge part of who I am, and What I do. Those who accept me into their lives do so at their own comfort level. BARE In The Desert is a major part of my life, since I currently live in a desert. Humor is also a huge part of my life. Thus, Bear, or Bare in The Desert is very fitting.
...Must be a Critter Watchin' me :)

Many times, I have discovered that people want to explore naked in a “secret”, safe environment. That is another reason I freely make my photos available for all who play nice to view. Many people are not sure they want to see someone Bare in person, so they look through my photos first, and decide from there, it IS indeed safe, and even comfortable. (every photo in my blogs links to My Flickr phot account.) Feel free to explore at your own level of comfort…(and also know there is no way for anyone to know you were even there. The ONLY time I know who visits my pages is when they choose to leave a comment. There will NEVER be anything illegal, sexual, or even anything that is not family-friendly. You want to look, but cannot see what you want? Or You see more than you wish? My profile in Flickr details how to control what you do, or do not see. How much you see, or not is completely up to you. There are many levels of comfort. What you do is entirely your choice.)

I Hope You found joy, humor, and even comfort in discovering a BEAR (OR IS IT BARE?) In The Desert!
I Hope you have a SAFE and Wonderful day, and Thank you for Entering with an open mind, or closed eyes! JOn ~=:-)

September 11. What do You Remember?

See The Hand? Touch A Piece of The World Trade Center.
A Hand Touches A Piece of The World Trade Center

9/11 Ten Years Later:

Today marks the ten-year “anniversary” of the terrorist attacks on The U.S. Almost everyone who was older than 5 can recall exactly what they were doing, where they were, and who they were with when they heard, or saw what was happening. Many controversies arise out of even the mention of that day. Opinions, views, and feelings range wider, and sometimes more violently, than even the most heated religious, political, or even race issues.

I have mixed feelings on this “anniversary”, and I am sure I am not the only one who does. Just like on that day back in 2001.
In many ways, I wish everyone would find a positive way to move forward, instead of recreating the suffering over and over. I do not understand why many want to take themselves back to something so horrible. I have this view on anything miserable, not just That Day in 2001. I KNOW the past is what shapes our future. I know events make us what we are today. What I have never understood was the need to constantly revisit, and relive the event. Live the life you are in, grow, and learn from what has passed. Embrace, and even use to make your world better the things that were not good in the past. Perhaps that old saying “Misery Loves Company” would be best re-written as “Misery Loves Miserable Company”. It seems for those that want to be miserable, they always want to surround themselves with others in the same misery. If they feel alone, they want to create a misery for others to join them in theirs. Why would anyone want to live in misery? Why would you not want to move away from those who want to recreate the misery from years ago?

I could not have wished for a better friend to be with, than the one that was with me when this happened. To me, the events of Sept 11, were not just one day, but a whole week. I was on vacation with Aimee’, and her daughter Baillie. Every day of that vacation is, in my mind, connected to 9/11. Aimee’ is one of a few long-time friends I love dearly, and could easily travel with. We were comfortable with each other, and could easily be ourselves. Baillie was, I think, 4 at the time. We loaded up my car, and drove from her place in Washington, to spend a week in Sunny California. We had arranged to spend time with many of her family, and had plans to visit many of the wonderful attractions in the San Jose, and Santa Cruz region. We were enjoying her family, and I was meeting many of them for the first time. We had planned almost every day to spend with different family members, and doing different events and attractions. The first stop was Danielle, and Gabriel’s place in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This was to be our home-base. That day I also met Shawna, Lauryn, and Robyn…some of the most wonderful people! To me, they were not like most people’s family… these I actually enjoyed, and wanted to visit with. And they accepted me, and I even felt welcome, and comfortable around them.

Shawna enjoyed church, and Saturday evening, she timidly invited us to join her at the service the next morning. She had seemingly been rejected by others for this sort of invite. Aimee’ and I were Both really happy to accept the invite. Surprisingly, the next morning, many of her family joined us at church. The service was good, enjoyable, and fulfilling. I enjoyed Shawna’s company, and looked forward to getting to know this wonderful human Aimee’ spoke so highly of. We all made more plans to spend more time in each other’s company. The week’s schedule was full, but there always seemed to be room to squeeze-in a little more!

That was Sunday, the 9th. We headed through the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains to explore the area. I spent many days in these mountains as a child, and driving through the wonderful California Redwoods, and Cedars was taking to me to a great happy memory-place! On the way back through the mountains, we came across a little place that had carved statues made out of the local trees. It was the home, and workshop of a spirited old man. This was his income, and obviously his love, too! I loved the creativity, and detail This man put into his carvings. I totally fell in love with a carved bear. We left without buying anything on that visit, but we knew we would be back.

The next day, Monday the 10th, we ventured into the heart of San Jose to spend some time with Aimee’s Grandparents. These were her Dad’s parents. The drive over the mountains was slow, winding, and could even make the most solid of people a bit queasy. Shortly after leaving the mountains, and we were on the freeway, we noticed Baillie was extremely quiet in the back seat. About the same time we turned to see why she was so quiet, the smell hit us! She had gotten car-sick, and she was sitting in a pool of vomit… her lap and carseat were filled! It was all we could do to not puke, ourselves. I found an exit, and we pulled-in behind a carwash to take care of Baillie, and the mess. I am sure anyone watching would have thought it was the funniest scene ever! Here, was a poor little scared girl, soaked in her own vomit. Aimee’ and I were both trying not to puke, ourselves, so we were having to take turns attempting to clean up. First, was Baillie: She did not miss an inch of herself. She managed to cover every stitch of clothing, fill her shoes, and it was even in her hair! The only option was to strip her completely. We first attempted to clean her up with the baby-wipes, and a couple towels. That proved to be inadequate. We asked the carwash attendant if there was a hose we could use. He had seen our attempts already, and was quick to provide one. So, here was Baillie, butt-naked, getting hosed-off in a parking lot. We really tried not to laugh, but it was just so funny! We had only planned to spend an afternoon with Aimee’s grandparents, so we did not have much with us in the way of extra clothes. The only thing we had for Baillie was her swimsuit. We took turns cleaning out the car, and dismantling the carseat, hosing off all the parts, and attempting to put it back together. The carwash attendant gave us some more towels to use. We managed to get enough cleaned-out that we could travel the rest of the way. We had to keep the windows all rolled down because of the smell.

Once we were at her Grandparents, we gave Baillie a bath, then we all went to the pool, and relaxed a bit. Afterwards, I finished cleaning out the car, and we laundered all of Baillie’s clothes, her carseat cover, and all the towels. We all went to dinner, and Her Grandparents wanted us to stay the night. We had not planned for this, and had no extra clothes, or bedding. Her grandparents had not seen her in a very long time, and really wanted us to stay. We decided to stay the night. We set-up bedding on the living room floor, and at bedtime, we each wore one of grandpa’s large t-shirts to sleep in. I gathered all of our clothes, and put them in the laundry, so we could have clean clothes for the next day. They had cuckoo clocks. Hundreds of Cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, swiss clocks, and any other kind of clock that made funny sounds at varying intervals during the night. We did not sleep very solid, and found ourselves giggling, and grumbling every time one would go off during the night. Finally morning rolled around.

It was Tuesday, Sept 11th. Today, we had planned to meet-up with Shawna, and go to Great America Amusement Park. We were not in a hurry, because the park did not open until 10. I got up first. It was not early, and we had lounged lazily all snuggled in the bedding. We were not eager to get up, because we had not slept much with all those clocks, and it was not often we just lounged, and snuggled. (And Aimee’ was never eager to get up early.) I transferred our clothes to the dryer, and went to shower. Aimee’ and Baillie stayed snuggled in the bedding. It was not very long before Baillie was trying to get me to hurry up and finish showering so we could take her to the amusement park she was excited about. Baillie was excited to get to go on roller coasters, and other rides today, and knew the sooner she got me out of the shower, she could get her mother in, and we could get going. When I got out of the shower, her grandparents had gotten up, and Baillie was having a ball with them, and talking about how much fun it would be at the amusement park. Aimee’ headed to the shower, and I started to gather our things, and get our clothes out of the dryer. While her Grandma was making some breakfast, her Grandpa turned on the TV to watch his morning programs. I was in the laundry room, and heard him grumbling at the TV. I did not pay much attention to what he was grumbling about. Then I saw him flipping channels, and heard bits of the same thing on each channel. I heard “Plane Crashed into The World Trade Center”. He was still grumbling about not being able to find his programs. I asked him to stop for a second. The First Image I saw on the channel he stopped on was a human jumping out of a smoking building that was incredibly tall in New York. I took the remote from him, and just sat watching in wonder, and trying to grasp exactly what I was seeing, and what had EVERY single channel on the same subject. Her Grandpa was still upset about his programs being interrupted, and did not grasp what was being broadcast. Baillie came and sat right next to me, not saying a word. I held her. Grandma stopped making breakfast. Grandpa Grumbled. When Aimee’ came out of the shower, she could tell something was different. She came and sat next to me, not saying a word, we held each other. Then we both looked at each other, and said “We need to pray for whoever Did This!” We both were on the same path at that time in our lives, and we both understood how those who would do such things to others were the ones who really needed God’s Love. We Prayed.

After a while of just watching what was happening, we ate breakfast, and kept watching more of the news. The news made it clear that almost any large event, or place where large amounts of people could gather would be closed. We called Great America to see if they were open. The recording told us they were closed. We had an anxious four year old that we needed to find something positive to fill up the day with. After a while of searching, we found a small amusement park that was indeed open today. This was Happy Hollow. We Called Shawna to make sure she knew our plans had changed. She was not interested in joining us at Happy Hollow, and I did not blame her one bit. We would all see one another later that evening. Driving through San Jose to Happy Hollow was very surreal. I grew up in San Jose, and was very used to the hustle, and crowded streets. Today was different. The Streets were empty. There were a few vehicles, but it felt like the city was vacant. Every office building, every government complex, every industrial facility was empty. The Airplanes were not flying. The airport was still. Occasionally we saw a few other vehicles on the roads. As we went over the freeways, they were empty. Occasionally we saw one or two people out and about. But mostly it was freakishly quiet. We joked about having missed the rapture.

Baillie, Sept 11, 2001
Baillie at Happy Hollow
When we pulled into the parking lot at Happy Hollow, we found only a few other vehicles there. We confirmed at the ticket booth that they were in fact open. Once inside, it hardly felt like a fun, festive, exciting amusement park. There were about two-dozen other people total in the entire park, including the employees. But we knew it would be fairly positive, and a good distraction for Baillie…and as it turned-out, a good distraction for us, too! We managed to enjoy the day, and find positive among what we knew was a horrible day. It was somber, but good at the same time.

That afternoon, we went back to The Santa Cruz Mountains. On the drive back, we saw many angry people with angry, vengeful signs in the windows of their cars, homes, and businesses. We did not find joy in the anger these people showed. Once we were back at Danielle, and Gabrielle’s, I took a nap, and Aimee’ got online. Aimee found a wonderful sign on the computer, and she printed out two copies of it to place in the car windows. It was an American Flag, which filled the whole page, and written in bold print across the entire flag, it said: “WE TRUST in GOD. PRAY”. I seldom ever put any kind of sign in my car windows, But I Eagerly put that one up!

That night, many of her family made plans to gather at a restaurant for dinner. We went also. Shawna rode with us. On the radio, we kept hearing about someone called “Bin Laden” that was responsible for the attacks on The U.S. A small town we drove through was named “Ben Lomden”, and we commented how those people are probably wishing they were not named that right now, because it was so similar to the name broadcast across the news. We passed the redwood carvings again, and I said I wanted to go back before we leave, to get a redwood bear. We all enjoyed a cheerful dinner, and each other’s company.

Much of the plans we had made were changed, or cancelled after Sept 11th. Our plans had changed, but we still managed to fill-up the week with plenty of activities. We explored much of the areas we had each known as children living around here. We found old-familiar stomping grounds, cherished old memories, and found new things to be excited about. We went shopping, (We were on a mission to find a specific pair of Sketcher’s Shoes for Aimee… and we found them, too!) And found fun places to eat (Wienerschnitzel!). The one thing we saw no matter where we went was the anger, and hatred people were showing toward the 9/11 events. When people would notice the sign in our car, they would stop the anger, and actually smile for a moment. We got many thumbs-up, and “Thank you-s” We did what we could to show our trust in God, and show that we knew it was not in our hands. Most of Aimee’s family was in the same path as we were. Share Love, Peace, and caring. Let God take care of the rest. We Did see plenty of Love, and caring, too, but we were always surprised at how much hatred was being shown. After a while, we stopped listening to the news, because it was not positive, and they were looking for reasons to promote anger.

On Friday, the 14th, We headed through the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains to explore The Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk. I had spent many wonderful days here as a child, and could not wait to finally revisit this wonderful place, now as an adult. We got to The Santa Cruz Boardwalk, only to discover it, too was closed, and It looked and felt deserted. It was hard to tell if it was closed for the season, or closed because of 9/11. A few shops were open, and we walked the entire boardwalk, and enjoyed a few of the places. It was a gray, chilly day, so we could not exactly go play in the sand and surf. We ventured out along the Pier, enjoyed the fresh ocean air, ate some wonderful seafood, and found plenty of joy in the day. We spent a good portion of the day in the area, because We WERE AT A BEACH IN CALIFORNIA! Yippee! We would not waste that opportunity! We enjoyed the shops, food, and atmosphere. Late in the afternoon, the sun came out, but it was still chilly, so we did not go to the water. We even walked The Boardwalk several times, just to enjoy it… even empty, it was delightful!

Aimee n Baillie, Sept 14, 2001
Aimee' and Baillie at Santa Cruz

We found plenty of joy, and life-giving love in the events , and gatherings of her family. There were many gatherings, some road-trips just to go for a drive, and explore, birthday parties, and just good hanging-out. I had never before met a family of anyone that I actually enjoyed, and I wanted to spend time with. This was the only family I had every found that accepted me, welcomed me, and was comfortable. Saturday was our last day to visit, and relax, and there was a Huge gathering at the clubhouse of Aimee’s Grandma. This was her Mom’s mother, and all the family I had come to love was her Mom’s family, too! There was swimming, barbeque, and plenty of fun, games, and just good socializing. It was early in the day when the event was over, and one of the families invited us to come to their house for the evening. Shawna happily rode with us, and we all went over there for the afternoon. We were planning to head back home on Sunday Morning, so we enjoyed the afternoon and evening with the rest of this part of her family. We purposely took the road that would lead us to the wood-carvings on the way to Danielle and Gabrielle’s that evening. It was already closed for the night. I was disappointed.

Sunday Morning, we loaded the car, and got ready to head home. As we left, Aimee’ suggested we go out of our way so I could get my bear. It was out of our way, and I did not want to delay the trip home for my own desires. Aimee’ insisted. She knew how much that bear would mean to me. We went to the carvings-place. I picked the carved-bear that I loved the most, and inside his little shop, I also found some wonderful jewelry made out of Redwood! I found a Redwood Cross on a chain, that I also got. I also recall that Aimee’ was interested in some Redwood Cross Earrings… but I do not recall if she ever got them.

We drove home that day. When we got to Aimee’s place, it was late in the afternoon. We spent some time sharing the highlights of our trip with her mom, and then it was time to get myself home, and start the normal work week again.

The next Sunday, we attended our own church, after missing two weeks. During that service, The Pastor was talking about unconditional Love, and purposeful prayer. He referenced the events of 9/11, and commented on how he knew everyone was praying on that day. Then he asked the congregation how many people’s first thought was “We need to pray for those who committed these horrible acts”? Aimee’ and I were proud to put our hands up. A few others put their hands up, but the majority of the congregation looked around at each other and asked, “Why would we do that?” “Why would we pray for the people who did this, instead of for the victims?” The Pastor already knew what the response would be, and went on with his pre-planned sermon about “Loving your enemy”.

For quite a while after September 11th, 2001, many Americans embraced friendliness, got to know their neighbors, showed care, concern, and love toward others. It seemed that maybe those fateful days had actually been a wake-up call. It seemed that America might actually attempt to find some common-ground again. It seemed many walls, barriers, and divisions had been abolished. It seemed much of the population was eager to have peace.

Now, Here we are a full ten-years later, and everyone has forgotten to play nice. People find the goofiest things to fight about. Last week, I heard that the “Anniversary” event at Ground-Zero was limited on space, and the Fire-Fighters, and Police were told they could not attend. This caused a huge uproar. Those Fire-Fighters, and Police who had responded to the emergency in 2001 felt they had the right to be there. They were causing fights, and divisions among people to assert their right to be invited, and attend. They were acting like little three-year olds who do not get to play with a toy that another child has.

My question is this: WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BE THERE?? I was in New York in 2005. I was not looking to find, nor even see anything to do with Ground-Zero. I Purposely had not even looked on a map to find out where it was. I wanted nothing to do with such a negative place. I stumbled upon it by accident. I was driving through Manhattan, and I could feel it. (I am tuned to many things most are not, but that is another story all by itself). I was suddenly so overwhelmed by the negative energy engulfing my soul, that I wanted out faster than was possible! (Anyone who has ever been in Manhattan knows traffic is not exactly swift, nor is there a fast route out.) I was engulfed in feelings of hatred, anger, fear, and evil. I could feel the energy of hundreds of angry souls. I could feel the energy of souls that had not found any final peace. I could feel the energy of hateful souls. There was absolutely no reason I would ever step willingly into such an angry, hate-filled place. I believe too many Americans want to keep that hatred alive, and fuel the fire of anger, rather than seek peace, love, and joy. I believe that too many people keep the anger alive, and refuse to use the loss toward something positive, and peaceful that will benefit their fellow human. I believe that when we lose someone, we should do things that the lost person would have wanted, so they can know their work is done, and their souls can be freed, instead of trapped in anger, strife, and disputes. We cannot change what has happened to cause us to lose lives of those we love. Holding onto it, and even fighting over it does not do anyone any good. Being kind, doing positive, and always doing so with the joy of the person we lost always brings good. As long as everyone is fighting over who should and should not be able to attend Ground Zero on any given “anniversary”, there will never be peace. I do not believe there should even be a “formal” event, or commemoration. I believe each person who wishes to recognize the day, should do so in their own way, in a private way, and in a way the lost ones would have wanted. I believe Gathering in the manner of an organized, formal event only further fuels the “Misery Loves Miserable Company”.

I have been in Pennsylvania, and while I was aware of the region where flight 93 went down, I would not purposely go visit that area. I have been in Washington D.C., and also was not seeking to go where the plane hit The Pentagon. When I lived in Virginia, it amazed me to no end, how the people re-enacted the major battles of The Civil War. (Often on the very same spots they had originally happened.) I have known many people who were victims of Hurricane Katrina, and Every year when that “anniversary” comes around, they behave horribly toward their fellow man, and they let everyone know why they are acting that way. They WANT to be miserable, and make others miserable because a calendar says it happens to be the same date as when some horrible event happened in their lives.

This does not make any sense to me. Why do humans wish to be miserable? Why would anyone want to re-invigorate the feelings ANY horrible event created? Why would they NOT want to find happiness, and grow from that pain, and suffering? They choose to keep going back to the horror. They want others to go back with them. I Understand the need to express the feelings of an event, and the need to explore why you have those feelings. Express those feelings, explore those feelings with the purpose of using what you discover to grow, move forward, and help others do the same. Sure, if someone can have a better understanding by hearing your story, Great! Please tell it. But tell it to help others learn, understand, and gain knowledge of what has made our world what it is now. Teach, and tell so that maybe one day people will actually want to stop this hatred on this Planet We Call Earth. Everyone says they want peace. But that is only what they say. If they really wanted peace, they would not fight. If they wanted peace, they would tell their story for the purpose of helping others to learn to not tolerate hatred, or violence of any kind. If they wanted peace, they would not fight about whether or not they got invited to an “anniversary”. If they truly wanted peace, they would take the fact that there was not room for them and say “Thank you. I had hoped to spend time teaching my grandchild about peace. Now I can do that, instead of fueling the fire of anger at Ground Zero.” But they would rather fight, and they want miserable company.

I am not in any way suggesting people forget what happened, or ignore the date. It is part of our history, and part of what makes us who, and what, we are today. We cannot erase, or even change the events that have happened in our lives, but we CAN move forward in a positive, healthy way… If We choose to do so. Or, we can hang onto the past, never move forward, and seek miserable people to be in our miserable company. We DO HAVE A CHOICE.

WHICH PATH DO YOU WISH TO TRAVEL?

Above, I posted a photo of The Bear, and Necklace. It reminds me daily to find hope, move forward, help others, and seek a positive path. It reminds me that “I TRUST IN GOD” and I PRAY. It reminds me that I have struggles, and I can dwell on those, or I can look for something positive. This bear reminds me of all the love, joy, acceptance, and care I found in Aimee’s family, and even though many of those people are not in my daily life, I still cherish the impact they made on my heart. An Impact that could have been destructive, considering the events of the week I met them, but they chose kindness, and love.
I love this Bumper-Sticker!

Two of my favorite bumper stickers.

September 11, 2001 was not just about the United States. That date will always be important around the globe.

On this date that will forever be on our hearts, souls, and minds, I Hope you can find PEACE, LOVE, and JOY. My Hugs, and Prayers are for you. May you Trust In God. Jon~=:-)

Coming Out of the (Naked) Closet

“If You Just Take It Off, It Would Be Easier.”
That was what I told my best friend, and roommate, Cara on that sunny afternoon in 2005.

I had gotten in the habit of lying in the sun naked in the early afternoon. I worked at 4 in the evening, and there was seldom anybody home, mid-day at our house. Or, when they were home, they seldom went out back, or looked out the windows.
This portion of the yard was mostly secluded, but was open to view if any of the neighbors happened to come around that side of the house. It was also visible from any window in the house. Not exactly a hiding place, but I had stopped hiding a little over a year ago. The sunshine and lush green lawn were a perfect place to get a little sunshine, and a nap before showering, and heading to work for the evening. It was no secret that I was often out there naked.

On this particular day, Cara and her (almost) two-year old daughter, Sammy were enjoying the back yard sunshine. I often tried to get others to enjoy the yard, but they did not go out there much. I often believed they purposely avoided anyplace they might see me naked. Sammy was playing in her little pool, and Cara was sitting in a patio chair attempting to get some sun, while watching Sammy. I came outside for my time in the sun, and was happy, yet surprised to see them out here, too. The strange thing was I usually just went out naked, but for whatever reason, I was wearing shorts this time. I went ahead and lay down on my towel, still wearing shorts.
Cara had chosen to wear an elastic-waisted skirt, and nothing else. She pulled the elastic-waist up over her boobs, and wore it kinda like a summer tube-top dress. She had her boobs, and lap covered. She kept fiddling with it to adjust how much skin she could expose to the sun, without exposing herself. It was actually quite comical the contortions she kept trying. She would pull down the top portion a bit exposing some of her boobs to the sun, but not all the way. She would push the bottom hem up a little higher on her thighs, but not expose herself. The elastic was not being very cooperative, and the breeze would blow the bottom hem. She was not exactly able to relax while doing this.
A Funny look at how we go to endless,
Often silly efforts to keep our barriers in place.
Even with those we trust.

Likewise, I was on my towel pretty much doing the same thing with my shorts. Adjust a little down on the waistline, and pull the legs up a bit. In the past year, I had gotten used to sunning without anything on. I had no tan lines. The shorts really bugged me, and I could not get them comfortable. So here was Cara Fiddling with here coverage, and here I was doing the same thing. We were laughing at each other. Sammy was playing happily in the pool.

I told Cara, “If You Just Take It Off, It Would Be Easier.” She Was heading in with Sammy to get some juice. As she went in the door, she looked over shoulder with a huge grin, and said to me, “If You Just Take It Off, It Would Be Easier.” Then she paused, looked at me again, and with her most playful, challenging grin ever, she said, “I don’t see you out here naked.” And Proud of her retort, and challenge at the same time, turned and went inside to get the juice.

Sounds like an easy answer, right?
Our History:
For almost ten years prior to this, Cara and I have been best of friends. We really were very comfortable with each other, and had seen each other at various times in various stages of dress, undress, and everything in between. We had each been through a lot of life, and shared much of our lives together. We could talk about anything, and trust in the other. We had a comfort, a closeness, and a love that would span any topic we felt we wanted to discuss, or any situation that may cross our paths.
We never dated, nor did we ever have sex. We had an agreement that if neither of us was in a relationship, we would snuggle, and share a bed. We both found this wonderful. We were very comfortable. We both knew plenty about how the other was shaped, and what every part of their body felt like. That was no big deal to either of us. For whatever reasons we each had, neither of us would ever be seen naked by another if we could help it. These beliefs went way back for each of us. Or, if one happened to see the other, we were always polite, turned away, and did not linger when that occurred. We each had our own self-imposed prisons, walls, barriers, and blockades that kept us from either being seen, or seeing the other naked. We each knew how the other felt, and would do what we had to for their protection, and even our own. We each often saw others naked, and we each claimed seeing someone naked was no big deal. But still, we had our own personal barriers.

A little over a year before this, I finally decided to “Come Out of the Closet”, so to speak. No, I was not coming out of the gay closet. I was coming out of THE NAKED CLOSET. (Why should gay people be the only ones to get to use such a fun phrase?) I knew a happy freedom naked as a child, until that was abruptly taken away at age twelve.
(See blog post: http://enterwithanopenmindorclosedeyes.blogspot.com/2011/09/joys-of-naked-as-child-then-lost.html  )
After 24-years of living a Secret Naked Lifestyle, I finally got the courage to Come Out Of The Naked Closet.
(See Blog post: http://enterwithanopenmindorclosedeyes.blogspot.com/2011/08/wearin-only-purple-toenail-polish-and.html  )
For some, getting “caught” and seen by hundreds of passing tourists on a boat could have devastating effects. For me, it showed me I could be accepted, and even welcomed while naked. It was time for people to realize who I really was, and time to stop hiding. They would either accept me, or they would not. This was a huge part of who I am, and That was what I needed to do.
I knew I had to approach this cautiously. It was easy to be seen, and accepted by those who do not know you, and will likely never see you again. It is easy to pretend there are no extreme barriers, walls, and blockades with those you do not know. Those who know you also know your barriers, and what is not acceptable. Likewise, you know their barriers, and know what is not acceptable to them. So, Imagine how difficult it is after a lifetime of each of you making sure you never saw one another naked, to suddenly try to say it is NOW OK. You both have these hard-programmed barriers in place that you will each do whatever is needed to protect. Most of the time, it is not even a choice, or a thought. It is just how we have programmed ourselves with our friends. Friends agree (often unspoken) to never purposely do something that would harm the other.

That first time publicly naked for me was in mid- 2004. It would take almost a full year to get comfortable being seen by anyone who knew me. I cautiously approached the subject with those in my life. I would dangle a bit of bait, and see how they responded. Many times I would mention where I had gone, and how I enjoyed the sun. Sometimes the comment about my watch being the only constant tan line was a good way to open it up. Most people would not care to know any details. I was open about it, but Never Blunt. Often I would bring up the subject and see what the reaction was.
Changing Clothes, and Sharing Bathrooms did not seem to count. People always share bathrooms. Nobody looks, and nobody seems to care. Often people needed to change clothes around others. Nobody looked, nor did they seem to care. Whether a roommate, a house guest, traveling with others, or whatever the reason, nobody seemed to have a problem with those they trust coming into the bathroom, or walking-in while changing. I never really understood this, but accepted it.

At the time I decided to stop hiding my naked lifestyle, I was living with Jodee, and her wonderful family in the Hills of Hockinson, Washington. It was a very full house, and the room I was supposed to use was suddenly needed by a pregnant neice who was coming up from California. I had no problem allowing her to have the room, and I took the living room. Sleeping in the living room left very little privacy. I often slept naked, but did not advertise it. Also, the main bathroom was needed by many people, and was off one of the bedrooms. Nobody ever made a big deal out of what they did or did not see. We all were respectful of each other. Some of the time, I put shorts on when I got up during the night, but most nights I did not. I often went outside and watched the stars while naked, never even taking anything with me for cover. It was not uncommon for someone else to also be up, but we pretty much allowed each other to have their own space, and would not see what they were up to, or what they were wearing. Once the weather warmed up, I set up a tent out in the yard. That was about the same time I started to fully come out of the naked closet.

I found living in the country was a perfect place to experiment with being openly naked again! I always slept naked, and would often spend time in the surrounding yard naked. The horses never seemed to mind. The closest neighbor was far enough away, that unless I suddenly had a spotlight aimed at me, I was not easily visible. I had set-up my hammock between the trees, and would often read in the late afternoon, or evening while naked. I kept my shorts nearby, just in case someone happened to not want to see me, should they stumble upon me. From the time I moved into the tent, I seldom put on any clothes when I would go inside to use the bathroom or in the morning when I would go in to shower. I Only put on clothes when it was evening, and others were still up. When I went in to shower, I was always first up, and first into the bathroom. The door to the bedroom was always open, and often Jodee would tell me “good morning” from her bed. After I was done showering, I would open her door again. By this time she was always up, and drinking coffee. I would often go back out to my tent without a towel to get dressed. Allowing the fresh air to hit my semi-wet skin , and finish drying in the open air was the best feeling! Often I would stop and gather my clothes from the dryer on my way out. I gained a lot of naked freedom living there. I do not know if anyone ever saw me naked, because nobody ever said a word, and I never asked. I imagine, if they saw me, they just politely looked away, and accepted it for what it was. I never attempted to hang out to purposely be seen. I did not hide, but my purpose was to enjoy life unashamedly naked, not be an exhibitionist. I did learn to be unashamed naked. It felt great! I was gaining a freedom I had lost 24 years ago!

That fall, was when I moved Portland, Oregon again, into the garage at Cara’s house. It was actually Cara’s Mom’s house. Cara, Sammy, and I were all her roommates. The garage had an outside door, instead of an entrance through the house. That was where I lived. It was mostly my bedroom. I used the house for kitchen, laundry, and bathroom.
I had told Cara about my excitement over finding naked freedom again. She was totally accepting, and encouraging of my joy, freedom, and said I could be naked anytime I wanted. Her mother frightened me a bit, though. Her mother always made remarks that made me believe she wanted to jump me, and have sex if she were to see me naked. That made me a tad nervous. While Cara insisted she was fine, and would not have any issues if she saw me naked, she was not very convincing. I made sure to tell her where, and when I would be nekkid, and it seemed she made sure to never be around at those times, or would not go where I might be naked.
Cara and I always chatted, and we enjoyed each other’s company. We were not exactly shy about much around each other… except when it came to naked. We both had hang-ups about that. As much as we both discussed how it would not matter, and how open we were about almost everything, we still, for whatever reason still mostly hid ourselves from each other. I went about my freedom pretty much the same as I did at Jodee’s house in the country. As a general rule, in the evening while others were still up around the house, I did not purposely go naked through the house. Cara always took advantage of that time, and would stop me to hang, and chat before I got a chance to strip once coming home. She almost never went out to the garage, because I believed she wanted to be sure she did not stumble upon me naked. It was no secret that I would come and go from the garage to the house without any clothes. My bathroom was just inside the back door.
The laundry room was also right there. I often did my laundry, or went into the bathroom without any clothes, and often I could hear others in the house, but they did not come around to see what I was up to. This also led me to believe she purposely avoided seeing me naked. Her mother seemed to hide in the other part of the house most of the time, so I quickly forgot about her scaring me while I was naked. My bathroom did not have a shower. I shared Cara’s for showering. It was through the kitchen, past the living room, and between the two rooms Cara and Sammy used. I was usually up in the morning way earlier than anyone else, so I never wore clothes in the morning. For whatever reason, when I was in the shower, Cara often got up (or more appropriately seemed to sleepwalk) to use the bathroom. She almost always went to use my toilet. Once in a while when I was heading out of the shower, we would pass while I was naked. She would give me a sleepy hug, and go back to bed. Perhaps it was dark enough, or she was so sleepy she never seemed to notice.
One of my greatest joys was to watch the stars before going to sleep. I always did this naked. Cara would never come out and join me. Again, I believed this was because while she said naked was OK, it really was not. During the winter, I continued to explore my naked freedom, and often would go outside in the freezing temperatures for the exhilaration, then retreat to the heaters in my garage.

After the winter had passed, I was hardly ever hiding my nakedness, but I noticed Cara was making sure she was never where I might be. I felt my nakedness was pushing Cara away. She insisted it was not. I could not live her life, I needed to live mine. If she insisted naked was not a problem, I had to trust her. As spring came around, and the weather warmed I found great pleasure in being in the yard as much as possible naked. Some of the neighbors saw me, and would chat. I especially loved to garden naked.

I had a good garden there. The neighbors behind us tended their garden while I tended mine. Both he, and his wife never even seemed to notice I was naked. They often saw me coming and going between the house and garage, and occasionally would join me around my fire. Other neighbors saw me, and would say hi, but nothing else. Also in the spring, my work schedule changed, and I was suddenly home more in the late morning, and afternoon. This meant that I was not guaranteed to be the only one up and around the house, like I had in the early morning hours. I continued my freedom without worry of what time of day it was. For whatever reason, our paths never crossed while I was naked. I had a fire pit in the back yard, and once darkness fell, I would often be without clothes near the fire. Cara would hang out until dark, and then go inside with the reason of having to take Sammy in for the night. That was a totally valid reason, but also seemed like a good reason to make sure she did not see me naked.
As early summer came around, I got in the habit of lying in the sun while napping naked before work. I often would stay out there for hours, before going in to shower for work. This was also the best time to get my laundry done. (For some odd reason, all my life doing laundry while naked was something I really enjoyed. I often did it secretly at many apartment laundry rooms.) I could start a load, go lay in the yard, go back inside to transfer it to the dryer, go back out again. When I would go in to shower before work, my clothes were dry, and I would get dressed right there at the dryer. I often would make my breakfast, or my lunch while naked. I had (almost) total naked freedom.
As I grew, and explored freedom over the past year, I found plenty of places all over the greater Portland metro area where I could enjoy naked freedom. I was never trying to place myself where I would be seen, or be considered an exhibitionist. (Simply naked is not illegal. Exhibitionism is illegal, because you are attempting to attract attention for being naked.) I knew the laws, and what was acceptable, and what was not. I do not ever do anything that could possibly land me in jail. As summer came, I had gotten comfortable hiking, and enjoying the local rivers. I could skinny dip without fear of being seen.

I could hike, and totally enjoy almost anything I liked to do while naked. I got to know the marine patrol sheriff, because I was always near the rivers, and he assured me I was fully within the law, and had nothing to worry about.
I found that the past year was both the most rewarding, and at the same time the most difficult. I was learning new-again freedoms, but in order to learn these, I had to knock down life-long barriers every single step of the way. Every single time someone would see me, it was total fear, and all the “what-ifs would boil-up again…. For a brief moment. It was always a matter of seeing how the other person would react that would determine if it was ok. I always made a habit of greeting the other person, or people with a smile, a wave, and if they were close enough to hear, a friendly ‘Hello’. I was completely amazed at how accepting people were. This acceptance was not limited to any gender, any age, or even any race, or sexual orientation. I was simply accepted as a naked human. I was finding my freedom again! I Never had one single incident where someone made me wish I had not been naked. Because I did not act like I was doing something wrong, and accepted it for myself, others accepted it, too. Almost all of the seemingly impossible barriers had been knocked down. I say almost, because one of those barriers was the issue of naked in front of those you know, and see every day. To know it would be alright was not a guarantee. To know it would not freak out your best friend was a gamble.
As the summer wore on, I found it weird that I could be naked so much of the time, and never see Cara. Often she was home, but had her door closed. I often wondered if she did see me while I was in the yard, or doing laundry, but never said a word. The same was true with her mom. I wondered.

This brings us back to where I started this story.
Easy Answer, Right?
I hesitated only half a second. One of the things Cara and I had with each other was the ability to know when to call one another’s bluff, and also to know when to act on that bluff. She clearly meant it this time.
It was now or never. There was no half-way, or even a chance to second-think it. My shorts came off. I rolled onto my stomach just to play it safe. It was less than a minute she was inside. Her and Sammy came back outside. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH!! I was actually shaking from the fear of what the reaction would be. I made sure I was lying flat, and not looking her direction. I could tell from her laugh that she was a bit shocked. I asked if it was ok. She started to relax, and started giggling. I looked her way to see how she was taking it. She said she asked for it, and REALLY DID expect me to be naked when she came back out, but for some reason it shocked, and embarrassed her. I asked if she wanted me to cover up. She would not look at me, but was still laughing, and I could tell she was embarrassed, but she said I was fine like that. I told her how nervous I was, and scared, too! She occasionally looked my way, but would not look directly at me, or especially toward my naked butt. Sammy was another story. Sammy was what broke the ice, and got Cara and Me to both relax, and just laugh. Sammy was almost two, and had never before seen a naked male. I was lying on my stomach, but Sammy was right there by my butt trying to see what that thing was between my legs on the towel. Gotta love the uninhibited curiosities of a child!
( I discuss the natural curiosities of children in this blog: http://enterwithanopenmindorclosedeyes.blogspot.com/2011/09/no-you-can-touch-it.html
Cara had to get out of her chair and distract Sammy somehow. I asked Cara if she minded at all, or if she did not want Sammy to see me. She was now pretty relaxed, and we talked about the curiosities, and that she wanted Sammy to learn things in a safe manner, such as this, rather than later once it was too late, or in an unsafe environment. Sammy lost interest after a few minutes. She had seen all she wanted, and moved on.
No You Can't Touch it. by JOn's ~=:-) view

We were all relaxed again in about a half-hour. I knew I would burn my butt if I stayed like this. I asked Cara if she would object if I rolled over so I would not get burned.

She was calm, and said it was ok. Once I was on my back, Cara was again red, and would not look at me for a while. Sammy was suddenly curious again. She was wanting to see what that thing was! Cara took her away a couple times, but it did no good. We were going to have to find a different approach, or take Sammy inside. That would not be fair to her. I sat up, and talked to Sammy about anything under the sun. She was always my backyard adventurer. I always taught her to look under rocks for critters, and to watch bugs, and look at leaves, and not step on the flowers. She liked to learn from me. Today was no different. She stood there, and talked, and listened, only occasionally looking at the thing down there. Cara was giggling, but trying to hide it from Sammy. One time while she was looking I explained the no touching rule. Told her it was ok to look, but not nice to look for a long time, and she could not touch. She understood that, looked a little more, then went off to play again. I then laid back and relaxed again.
Cara was giggling, and in the same playful, challenging tone she used when she said “I don’t see you out here naked”, she said, “Do the same rules about looking and touching apply to me, too?” It was my turn to be embarrassed! I rolled over on my stomach again!

The afternoon went by fast, and It was soon time for me to shower and head to work. Cara and Sammy had already gone inside when I headed in for my shower.
After that day, it was back to “normal”. I was naked as much as possible, I never saw anyone else while I was naked. Had I offended her? Or was that just what was needed by both of us? What was left of the summer went by really fast. I never found out. At the end of that July was when I literally ran away from life as I knew it in Oregon. I never knew if I offended her, or if she was ok.

What I discovered, and experienced while traveling across the United States was another level of learning, and discovering new-found freedoms. I eventually settled in Virginia, and got back in contact with Cara. It was sometime during the next year that another friend was scared of seeing me possibly naked, when I got up the courage to ask Cara about that naked afternoon. She did not say much, except “that it really messed with her for a long time.” That was all she would say, and it was clear even that was not easy for her to tell me. I did not press it further.
Soon after that phone call, she started asking me to mail her photos of my adventures. I asked for clarification to be sure I understood. She was happy to see my naked photos. She said her fiancé was open to it, and found it quite humorous, too. She said she had been telling him all about me, and he wanted to know more. I eventually ended up back in Oregon again, and Cara and Sammy were around me all the time while I was naked. They both remembered the rules. They both grinned endlessly.
Perhaps one day, Cara will write her side of this story, and I will know how she felt, and how it affected her. She is still one of my very best friends, ever, and I love, and respect her more than she realizes. I would love to know her thoughts. Even if she never wants to share those thoughts, I will still love her!

Jodee, Holly, Shawna, Aimee, Josh, and Baillie were all around me when I was first learning to be openly naked in 2004, and 2005. I have never heard a thing from any of them about if they ever saw me, or if they even knew. I would love to hear their version if any of them had seen me, or even knew, or even cared. I would love to hear how they perceived it, or how it affected them. (Hint: Jodee, Holly, Shawna, Aimee', Josh, and Baillie.... If any of you read this, and care to tell me how, if at all, any of this affected you, or if you even noticed, I would really love to know... If you wish to say anything at all.)

Hopefully, if you are struggling with life issues, or know someone who is, my writings will help. If baring my soul, along with baring my body helps even one person, in any form, it is worth it. I do not write these for an audience, but I happily share with the hopes that it may help people to possibly understand me a little bit, or in the hopes that someone else going through the same thing might see this, and find comfort. Perhaps ot reaches the one person who really needed a good laugh, and this provided exactly that. Perhaps that one person is conflicted about a toddler who saw them naked. Perhaps you have seen someone naked, and were not sure how to handle it. If my life’s experiences help one person, then that was the purpose I wrote it.
I Hope You have a Safe, and Wonderful Day! Thank You for reading My Blog! Jon ~=:-)
